NSS

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are: 

i. Understand the community in which they work. 

ii. Understand themselves in relation to their community. 

iii. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving. 

iv. Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility. 

v. Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems. 

vi. Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities. 

vii. Gain skills in mobilising community participation 

viii. Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes

 ix. Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and 

x. Practise national integration and social harmony.

By keeping the abovementioned things as objectives, the NSS unit of our KHTPC encouraging its students to contribute in effective way to the society and thereby nurturing the professional ethics in the budding students’ mind. It will develop the social responsibility and commitment of the Students. Mr. P. Sakthivel, Lecturer/ Dept. of General Engineering is acting as NSS Coordinator and the supervision of Principal. NSS unit of KHTPC organized various programmes like blood donation camp, free eye check-up, awareness program about TB (Tuberculosis), awareness program about Engineering Education, leadership development program, nurturing the culture of tree plantation among the school students and public and etc. The NSS unit of KHTPC received the funds from The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India has intimated that the camp. In this camp, activities should be planned in such a way that health education, health related awareness programme especially to women, cleanliness (Swachh Bharat), training on disaster management, awareness on road safety / ban on one time used plastics, voter awareness, conduct of medical checkup camps, career guidance to educated / uneducated youth, basic technical training to rural youth, self-employment training to rural women, motivating school dropouts to continue their education, creating awareness among students to join in First Year and Direct Second Year in Diploma Courses, dissemination of information about Government Schemes, financial assistance, educational loan, medical facilities etc. are to be given due importance. In addition, the programmes like creation / renovation of RWH structures, construction of basement to street hand.

About RRC-Red Ribbon Club

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and Colleges through which, students will spread awareness over HIV / AIDS. It envisages to instil charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation.

Objective :

1. To create an awareness and to induce the spirit among youth to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against PLHWAs. 

2. To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills on leadership, negotiation, and team building. 

3. To promote voluntary blood donation among youth. Mr. M. Mohanraj, Lecturer in Department of Mechanical Engineering is acting a RRC Coordinator and he is coordinating with NSS coordinator to carry out the programmes for the betterment of society.
