Admission Details

Description of the Course
a. Full Time (3 years)

The Course for the Full Time Diploma in Engineering shall extend over a period of three academic years, consisting of 6 semesters* and the First Year is common to all Engineering Branches.

b. Sandwich (3½ years)

The Course for the Sandwich Diploma in Engineering shall extend over a period of three and half academic years, consisting of 7 semesters* and the First Year is common to all Engineering Branches. The subjects of three years full time diploma course being regrouped for academic convenience. During 4th and/or during 7th semester the students undergo industrial training for six months/ one year. Industrial training examination will be conducted after completion of every 6 months of industrial training.

c. Part Time (4 years)

The course for the Part Time Diploma in Engineering shall extend over a period of 4 academic years containing of 8 semesters*, the subjects of 3-year full time diploma courses being regrouped for academic convenience. * Each Semester will have 16 weeks duration of study with 35 hrs. / Week for Regular Diploma Course and 18 hrs. / Week for Part-Time Diploma Course.

Condition for Admission:
The polytechnic admits both boys and girls. Reservation will be made as per the norms prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Admission of students under All India Quota and Orthopedically Handicapped are done by DOTE.
Eligibility Criteria
Admission to First Year – Qualification

Condition for admission to the Diploma courses shall be required to have passed in the S.S.L.C Examination of the Board of Secondary Education, Tamil Nadu. (Or) The Anglo Indian High School Examination with eligibility for Higher Secondary Course in Tamil Nadu (Or) The Matriculation Examination of Tamil Nadu. (Or) Any other Examinations recognized as equivalent to the above by the Board of Secondary Education, Tamil Nadu.

Note: In addition, at the time of admission, the candidate will have to satisfy certain minimum Requirements, which may be prescribed from time to time.
No Age Limit
Admission to Second Year (Lateral Entry):

A pass in HSC (Academic) or (Vocational) courses mentioned in the Higher Secondary Schools in Tamil Nadu affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board with eligibility for university Courses of study or equivalent examination, & Should have studied the following subjects mentioned in the below table. A pass in 2 Years ITI with appropriate Trade or Equivalent examination

Management Policy

The Management of KHTPC encourages students who did well in SSLC examination. We are offering FREE education for the students who secured 450 marks and above in the SSLC examination. Also, 50% of academic fee relaxation is assured for the students who secured more than 400 marks in SSLC examination.

 

The Management of KHTPC is planned to offer 25% of sanctioned intake for Sports Quota admission by offering sports scholarship to the students who are doing well in sports/games activities at School level with the proven record.

 

To encourage the students who want to study from the long distance/other districts, Hostel accommodation fee is made FREE for all community students and only mess fee is getting collected from the students based on dividing system scheme.

 

Bus fee and Hostel accommodation fee are FREE for SC/ST students.

General Rules & Regulation
Students:
Dress Code:
  • Boys should wear only uniforms (except on Wednesday & Saturday)/formal shirts and tuck-in their shirts while they are inside the campus. Wearing jeans, T-shirts and shirts with tattoos and any other form for symbols are strictly prohibited inside the campus.
  • Girls should wear either saree, or churidhars with dupatta. Wearing half-saree, middies, jeans are strictly prohibited inside the campus.
  • Students are advised not to wear loose-fitting shirts or pants while doing workshop practical.
  • Students should wear the respective uniforms to attend their practical classes.
  • Students should wear leather shoes inside the workshop.
  • ID card is mandatory for all the students. Without the ID students won’t be allowed to attend the classes and other academic related activities inside College premises.
Fee payment:

Students have to clear the academic related fee dues within the prescribed time period. Late payment may be considered based on the valid request/condition of the student by the Management. Students who paid the examination fee are not permitted to attend the board examinations.

Discipline:

KHTPC is giving first priority to the discipline of Students and Staff members. If any indiscipline activities found in the College premises/outside the campus (while representing College)/ College Bus, then severe corrective actions will be taken against the Students and Staff members involved in that case. Any act of misconduct committed by a student inside or outside the campus shall be an act of violation of discipline of the College. Violations of the discipline shall include:

  • Disruption of teaching, examination, administrative work, curricular or extra-curricular activity, and any act likely to cause such disruption.
  • Damaging or defacing the property inside or outside the College campus.
  • Engaging in any attempt at wrongful confinement of teachers, offices, employees and students of the College.
  • Use of abusive and derogatory slogans or intimidatory language or incitement of hatred and violence.
  • Ragging in any form ("Ragging" means causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of a practical joke or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violates his person or exposes him to ridicule or to forbear from doing any lawful act, by intimidating, wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining or injuring him or by using criminal force to him or by holding out to him any threat of such intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal offence. Supreme Court of India has defined ragging as a criminal offence.)
  • Eve teasing or disrespectful behaviour to women or girls students.
  • An assault upon, or intimidation of, or insulting behaviour towards a teacher, officer, employee or student or any other person.
  • Committing forgery, tampering with documents or records, identity cards, furnishing false certificate or false information.
  • Organising instant agitation/meetings without prior permission in the campus.
  • Viewing/downloading obscene information/data, images and executable files, sending obscene mails/messages via Facebook / Tweeter/other social sites using College servers.
  • Refusing to provide an identity card when demanded by any College authority.
  • Consuming or possessing alcoholic drinks, dangerous drugs or other intoxicants in the College campus.
  • Possessing or using any weapons and fire arms in the College campus.
  • Unauthorized occupation of hostel, Accommodating guests or other persons in hostels without permission.
  • Malpractice in examination.
  • Indulging in anti-national activities contrary to the provisions of acts and laws enforced by Government.
  • Any other act which may be considered by the Principal or the Discipline Committee to be an act of violation of discipline.
If any students involved in malpractice in the regular/board examinations, the corrective actions will be taken as DOTE norms.

  • Ladies should wear saree and apron while they are inside the campus.
Attendance
All the students are asked to ensure the 100% attendance during the semester and is not possible in all the student cases. By considering some practical issues, the students are asked to ensure minimum of 80% attendance at the end of the semester. Otherwise, he/she won’t be permitted for the end semester examinations.
